Is it A Stone ? Does it Matter if it is ?
The totemic installation is also the entire space. Its scale disrupts the interior, making you forget that you are on the 5th floor of a famous office building. Maximiliano Aduki has spent years constructing illusory worlds for advertising, as he says, "ephemeral architectures" in the service of desire. With this work, he explores a more existential facet, turning the exhibition space into a morphological and self-referential drama.

The effects of the forms are a presence here. Opposing forces give shape to this monument, which is also a backstage. As a counterpoint to the raw stone, the shoring appears as a trace of a project: every vector confronting gravity requires a constructive strategy. The effort of the material trying to support itself and the agency of the human-designer thus become crutches, useful supports, that empower but also immobilize.

Experiencing the mountain in the sky is not impossible, he suggests with this piece. Perhaps the artist, in search of himself, embarked on that path. Formalized moral, material artifice, the installation stands as a reminder of the possible effects of life decisions. A grand fiction that cannot be more realistic.
